Meteorites and impact rocks provide crucial insights into the formation and evolution of our Solar System.

In Italy there are numerous meteorite and impact rocks collections, both public (preserved in Museum, Universities and various research institutes) and private.

Given the importance of periodically reviewing collections in light of new knowledge, this session aims to promote collaboration between researchers and public and private meteorite holders.
It would be important to create a network of collaborations that will enhance and protect the various samples of extraterrestrial material through appropriate research activities that ensure:

• dissemination of data relating to existing collections;
• proper conservation of samples;
• public promotion of collections through their musealization and/or temporary exhibitions;
• improve the accessibility to samples-when possible-for research purposes;
• support for the production of scientific publications and events, both scientific and educational.
